Summary
Book III Rebellion continues the saga with Christmund, son of Edmund from Shallow Wade, soldier and a member of the royal guard. He goes on a journey to Borg Castle and comes across the Elven Army in shiny armor. Artenth, one of the elves tells him to deliver a message to Sir Klaus when he arrives at Borg Castle – to send reinforcements to Storm Castle and inform him that Queen Maria, the Queen of Montania, and her daughters need more protection and an escort when the time comes. Artenth also gives him an elven sword so he can fight the beasts from the Underworld.
Meanwhile, the story picks up where Book II The Defeat left off. Sir William, keeper of Crown Castle survives the invasion of the Ortaks but stumbles across vargs, the beasts of the Underworld. The attack is witnessed by a new character named Big John who is over two meters in height with arms as thick and strong as trees. He is known for his strength and calm temperament, but will he really be able to save Sir William from these big monstrous creatures?
Invasion of the Ortaks: Book III Rebellion by Sveinn Benonysson is the third of six installments of fantasy novels that revolve around six kingdoms in the world of Esthopia. From the title itself, the main theme is rebellion; Lord Grimstein of Erinstein is out to claim Serpenia from Queen Egny, who is also the reigning Queen of Otanga and Eniktronia. The death of three Kings has opened evil opportunities for outlaws to steal and prey on women; the Ortaks’ invasion is ongoing, but an archer named Axel is leading an army in Queen Egny’s name to stand up against evil forces.
Review
The story gets better and better; new characters and more focus on Tania’s backstory have made this book very fascinating. Here are just few of the many things I like about it: (1) Axel, Victoria, and Jeff’s heroic acts, (2) Tania’s backstory, (3) Evolving characters like Christmund, Big John, the three brothers, and Tania’s horse and wolf named Shadow and Tyr, (3) Shadow’s heart-warming gesture to Tyr when he was just a wolf puppy, (4) Big John’s encounter with Sir Williams and lastly, (5) Queen Egny’s meeting with Axel, Jeff, and Victoria.
This is a book that can’t be described in just one word because there’s more to it than the first and second book; it has more heart-warming moments, more violence, more suspense, more focus on characters, more development, and more compelling events that make it very hard to put down. I highly recommend this book to fantasy lovers though my recommendation is limited to mature readers due to violence and sexual assaults. Overall, I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars for its ability to pull readers into the realm of amazing characters, magical moments, and wonderful places in the world of Esthopia.
