Book Review: A Family of Friends

Summary

A Family of Friends is a drama, romance, and adventure novel by Arlene Krieger. The story is about four retiring teachers who are best of friends. They share the same sentiment about not wanting to die alone, and wanting to live the rest of their lives in the company of each other. They decide to form a group of people who want to build a home in Las Vegas and live together as a family of friends.

Review

This book made me want to experience living in Las Vegas as well, but I wouldn’t want to live with many people in one house and always decide on things as a group. I’d want to be in control of my finances, what food to eat, and wouldn’t want to deal with different personalities. I guess it’s because I’ve been surrounded by lots of people for most of my life since my childhood years when my extended family lived with us. Then, when I had my own family, I worked in a very toxic corporate environment for 11 years until 2019, where I had to deal with more people than I could handle in a day.

Once my kids all settle down and have their own family, I would want to live the rest of my life not necessarily alone, but not with many people as well. I am done with that part of life and just want a quiet everyday life writing, reading, or watching Netflix. I would however, love to have a week-long vacation with my family and friends in Las Vegas.

As a work of fiction, I truly enjoyed reading this book and I’m sure most people would be entertained by it. Hence, I’m giving it 5 out of 5 stars. It was a fun, heartwarming, and enlightening story about friends who became a true family; solidified by a bond of genuine caring, love, and financial security. I highly recommend this book to ALL readers.
