Book Review: A Winter Romance

Summary

A Winter Romance is a historical novel by Catalina Dubois and one of the books from the Infinity series. It follows the story of star-crossed lovers, Sarah and Matthew. In this book, Sarah is a seventeen-year-old headstrong woman who resists to settle down and have a mundane life just like the other ladies her age. Coincidentally, Matthew also resists to settle down and has broken five engagements. His brother James thinks he’s being very picky and stubborn and wants to marry him off. When James met Sarah, he knew they would be a perfect partner for each other, so he convinces Sarah’s father Tobias of his plans to marry off his brother with his daughter. Tobias agrees. However, when a series of unfortunate events occur, he starts to regret his decision.

Review

I’ve already read several Infinity books by Catalina Dubois, so I was ecstatic to read another book from the series after quite some time. Her books never fail to provide the nostalgic feeling that only historical books with timeless romance can give. A Winter Romance was just as fun and exciting to read and has its own charm. There’s that writing style that I’m already familiar with but there is also a different flavor in the story. I think it’s the season and Sarah’s character that separates this from the other books. She makes the story a little more compelling than the others because of her innocence and aversion to romance. Then, Matthew enters the picture, and she begins to open her heart. It’s stories like this that I miss! Not many authors can bring back the classic feel of historical romance like Catalina does. Hence, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars for bringing me back the kind of romantic story that makes my heart flutter. Highly recommended to readers who love historical romance.
