Book Review: Betrayal

Summary

Betrayal: A Novel of the Vietnam War is a historical military and romance fiction, and Book 2 of Michael Pandolfo’s Fidelity Series. As the story continues, Joi is dismissed as a servant despite her genuine loyalty and devotion to Sharon. Sharon has no idea that Joi saved her life, but when she finds out, she only has fear towards her instead of gratitude. Meanwhile, Captain Mitch deals with grief from the loss of his comrades, and feels a growing exhaustion from his military responsibilities, marital issues, and an intense longing for Joi that he keeps on denying.

Review

The first book was good, and this one was amazing! If there’s one element I should pick that made this such an interesting book, it was the characters. Mitch is the perfect manifestation of a military man, and an incurable romantic. Joi is a loyal servant, willing to do everything in her power to protect her masters. Sharon is one despicable crazy woman. And what’s more amazing, is that even the supporting and additional characters in the story have a grip factor, making the book more exciting to read.

As for my favorite parts in the story, one would be Mai’s response to Mitch when he denied his feelings for Joi, and the second one was Joi’s confession to the priest and what he told her. I couldn’t mention anything about the latter part of the story to prevent spoilers, but I am telling you this, you won’t be able to predict how the story will end.

I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. The characters, narrative, and dialogues were so engaging, and the ending was unpredictably satisfying. I highly recommend this to ALL readers who read the first book.
