Book Review: Betrothed

Summary

Betrothed is a historical drama, comedy, and adventure by M Leroy Lombard. Set in the kingdom of Nadeau, a very wealthy kingdom comprised largely of farmland, the story begins when a little princess named Audrianna is betrothed to Prince Henry against her will. The prince isn’t happy about this because his father chose a child to betroth him rather than an adult maiden. He must wait six long years before he can marry her and take the throne. The king thinks that Henry isn’t ready because he’s immature. True enough, at 25 he acts like a child for throwing antics on Audrianna every chance he gets, and she hates him for that. Will the two ever get along?

Review

Loved this book! The opening instantly set my mood because the scenery was well depicted to introduce the kingdom of Nadeau, as well as the characters. It was easy to get pulled into the story. Princess Audrianna is adorable, and Prince Henry is charming despite his mischief. Henry's mischievous personality and Audrianna's gullible personality were such a good source of funny entertainment. The turnip incident cracked me up! I also love that the unfortunate incident got Henry and Audrianna closer together by working as a team to survive. Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend this amusing historical tale to readers who love funny adventure stories set during the medieval times.
