Book Review: Biological Essentialism

Summary

Biological Essentialism by Jay L. Hall M.S. is a theory of evolution that refutes Charles Darwin's understanding of evolutionary biology. This book tackles human exceptionalism, gender issues, renegade scientists, geology, and a lot more that may change our view on what we have known most of our life. This controversial work is fully illustrated with graphics, and the innovative ideas are well documented with reference notes.

Review

Never been so fascinated with evolution theories until I read this book! It was quite amusing because of the flow of words. For a book about evolution, this one's possibly the most entertaining and convincing that I've read so far amongst some academic books that I have read before. It’s very easy to read, quite amusing, and I love the writing style.

This book completely opposes Charles Darwin and tackles some very intriguing topics that blew my mind and made me question every belief I had in life. Problem is, could I really question anything at all when I've no proof of anything except Charles Darwin's theories and this book? My take on this is that there are many conflicting theories in life and I don't even know whether the world is round or flat or whether we evolved from apes or not. But in this world full of complexities, I'm just an ordinary citizen who would rather take Matt Haig's words when he said in his book, "You don't have to understand life, you just have to live it."

Nevertheless, this book definitely deserves 5 out of 5 stars. It was very thought-provoking and I highly recommend it.
