Book Review: Conquest! The Enlightenment Protocols

Updated: Feb 24, 2021

Summary

Caltease is the fourth planet of the twelve that are orbiting the star. Myra, a Sacorsti, travels all the way across the galaxy to meet the Blue Team and help execute a mission to colonize the Calteaseans. Oblivious that other worlds exist, the Calteaseans are infiltrated by the Sacorst. However, challenges arise when the armed forces of the Calteasean nations prove tougher than anyone thought.

Review

Conquest! The Enlightenment Protocols is a sci-fi fantasy novel by G.W. Morgan. I must say that I enjoyed reading this book because I like stories about aliens and invasion. However, given that the story has a lot of scientific and technical terminologies, it was a heavy read for me. There were wordings that could’ve been simplified - Myra’s mode of transport that looks like a shooting star was described as ‘low-orbital retro-pod insertion.’ I seriously contemplated if he was indeed referring to a spacecraft.

Despite the convoluted style of writing, I was impressed by the author’s wide and unique imagination, considering that the book mostly contains fictional characters, places, science, and technology. There are counterparts of things that we have in the real world. Like our mobile is P-Com in their world, our God is Pygan in their world (I hope I got this right), and People-Link is their global social networking site.

I’m giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. The well-detailed descriptions pulled me into the world of popular culture and fanciful inhabitants where P-Com, is a constant companion and a vital extension of many people’s lives. I recommend this to mature sci-fi enthusiasts with a warning that there are sensual, as well as violent contents.
