Summary
Douglas the Elephant and His Free Will is a children’s book from the Thought Leader series by Adam Khedoori. The story is about Douglas, an elephant who was taken away from his family and held captive. Despite his longing to see his parents again, he accepted his fate because he didn’t think he was strong enough to free himself. Then, an elephant named Aaron arrived. He was wiser. He knew he was strong and could get away. With Aaron’s encouragement, he convinced Douglas that he was strong enough to get away, too. Upon successfully escaping, they became friends and Douglas was finally reunited with his family.
Review
This was a great story about courage and friendship. Sometimes it takes another person for us to realize what we can do because we tend to limit ourselves due to lack of belief that we are capable. In addition to the story, there’s more information in this book that can be utilized in a classroom or online class.
I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. It’s an encouraging and heartwarming story that will teach children to believe in themselves. It also contains high-quality illustrations that children will love. I highly recommend this to children 3 – 12 years of age.
