Book Review: Dream, Recurring

Summary

Dream, Recurring is a paranormal mystery thriller by Mark Canniff. The story is about Lucy and Sam who are paranormal investigators; they hunt ghosts and get rid of those that are haunting people and places. Lucy has a recurring dream that she doesn’t quite understand, and when a dark entity starts killing and traumatizing the good folks of Island River, she thinks that they are somehow connected. When the dark entity takes the life of another innocent, Lucy and Sam, with the help of two new addition to their group, investigate what is happening to find a way to destroy the entity.

Review

I think the story has a cool concept because I like ghost hunters with special equipment to get rid of ghosts. The writing style was easy to read; I didn’t have to read between the lines or crack a metaphor because of the clear-cut approach. When it comes to the plot, there wasn’t anything striking or unique about it. It was a typical paranormal story, so the flow didn’t give me an emotional pull or wow moments. I also think the characters weren’t well-developed, so I didn’t feel a connection with them. Lastly, this book needs another round of editing.

I’m giving this book 3 out of 5 stars. I think the younger generation who love paranormal stories would enjoy it. It’s a lite read with charming characters and a cool storyline
