Book Review: Free Falling

Summary

Free Falling is a guide book by Pamela Jameson. She wrote the book based from stories she was told and could remember from her life and own experiences, with the purpose of bringing some understanding, peace, comfort, and humor to anyone and all of us who have lived long enough to grow old and end up, one way or another, in free fall.

Review

I love the main thing that I learned about this book, which is acceptance. Accepting that as we age, there will be changes in our body; that we will have similarities to a baby because there will come a time when we will be dependent. It’s a very scary and harsh reality that I sometimes think about ever since I turned 40. Because I started feeling all the changes in me physically and emotionally at this age, and it worries me that things won’t get better because I won’t look younger, nor feel younger, and time will come when I cannot do the things that I used to do.

I very much agree when the author wrote that our taste in things could change over time, that looking back, we may be surprised, that ideas and concepts and strategies and styles that we used to adore are no longer viable or even interesting. My taste in a lot of things like food, clothing, movies to watch, music to listen to, and many other things, surprisingly, did change a lot. But what changed drastically, is how I see life and handle things.

I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was very informative and relatable. This book presented useful aging facts and sentiments that are backed up by real-life experiences and medical information. I highly recommend this book to all readers who might need this for understanding, peace, comfort, and humor.
