Book Review: Girl with the Rose Tattoo

Summary

At the age of sixteen, Tina Douglas has nowhere to go when she gets thrown out of the house by her own mother. With the fear of being out in the streets, she submits herself to Rob Crawley, a full-patched member of the Cascade Warriors MC. He takes her in as his girlfriend and gets full control of her life.

On Tina’s graduation, she experiences a dreadful night with Rob, destroying her dreams to have a brighter future. But despite the unfortunate events in her life, she crosses paths with Jenny Travis who becomes her best friend and protector. Together, they fight Rob’s relentless intrusion.

Review

Girl with the Rose Tattoo by L.A. Weiss is an action suspense thriller about a young punk chick and her terrible experiences with the infamous member of a biker gang. I read this book unaware of its lesbian theme so I was taken aback at first, but since the story became more and more interesting, I was able to adapt. The story surprisingly contains a mix of different elements – seances, astrological charts, map drowsing, and taek-won-do.

I like all the tense moments in this book - the constant running and hiding and fighting. I also like the characters Sylvie, Nella, Jewel, Father D, Jen and her parents because of the unconditional support they have for Tina. Though I can’t relate to the flow of dialogues as well as Tina’s thoughts because I’m not a broken punk chick, the author did well in the first-person point of view; the narratives were very well-written.

Overall, I’m giving this 4 out of 5 stars. This book is kickass with an entertaining storyline. However, I am limiting my recommendation to mature and open-minded readers for its violence, LGBT theme, strong language, and sexual but not explicit content.
