Book Review: Green

Summary

Green is a military drama and romance by David Scott. The story begins when Josh and his wife’s pet business fail. The demise of Peachtree Pet Industries triggers Josh to end his dream for his pet store and join the U.S. Army. Lynn was never the same after that, and neither was Josh. Fortunately, they reconcile, but new challenges occur as they embark on many adventures together that will strengthen their bond.

Review

This was a good story! At times, it was funny because of the style of writing. I got hooked since the beginning because, who joins the army after failing your business? You join the army to serve your country, so the urge to do so is driven by patriotic values or the desire to do something meaningful. But joining after failing a pet business? That is such an intriguing escape from one’s normal life.

I love Josh’s character. I knew from the start that his character development would be what I’d mostly anticipate from this book and the author delivered that perfectly by gradually depicting Josh’s failure in the military since his basic training, to his success in passing the final test. But of course, that’s just the beginning of the story because there is more. Josh had to juggle unforeseen challenges and risks in the military as well as his wife’s mental wellness.

Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book tackles marital, mental issues, and career issues which mostly depicts life in the military. This has been an entertaining, informative, and heart-fluttering reading experience and I recommend it to readers who love military romance stories.
