Book Review: How to Tame Dragons and Hush Hyenas

Summary

How to Tame Dragons and Hush Hyenas is a children’s fiction book written by Kerry Orchard and illustrated by Roberto Gonzalez. This book was a best book choice selection by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre.

The story is about Jeremy and his struggle in controlling his emotions. On a particularly bad day, his dragons and hyenas come out to ruin the day even more, but he slowly learns to tame his dragons and hush his hyenas, making the day a brighter one.

Review

This is such a creative literature that teaches young children how to control their negative emotions. The core message of the story can be best relayed with the right interpretation from parents, teachers, or guardians.

I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. The high-quality illustration blend so much with the narrative and its theme. I highly recommend this book to children ages 4 to 10 years old. I’m sure that children will enjoy such a fascinating and colorful book!
