Book Review: Living on Borrowed Time

Summary

Living on Borrowed Time is a memoir by Rebecca S. Meadows. In this real-life story, she shares her grueling journey from a 12-year-old girl whose plan was to become a teacher, but instead, wakes up to see nothing; not her future, and literally nothing in front of her. Suffering from a traumatic brain injury after an accident, she becomes blind at such a young age and gets tangled in a myriad of neglect, deceit, and injustice by doctors, lawyers, and even the people closest to her who were supposed to protect her. This is the story of how she fought and overcame the trials through her strong determination and faith in God.

Review

It’s never easy to read a memoir when it involves a lot of unimaginable adversities, but it’s always enlightening and encouraging to read them because real-life stories of overcoming the harsh events and challenges are a true testament of faith and hope. I really felt the anger and pride in all the words that built Rebecca’s painful but confident narrative. There is no filter in her words. She said what she wanted and poured her heart and soul into this book. Her story showed her strong faith and belief in God which was what kept her determined in overcoming the many struggles that she had to go through. Overall, I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars for the courage and inspiration it is bound to gift readers who are yet to read this book.
