Book Review: Liza Fury: Catch 22

Summary

Liza Fury: Catch 22 is an urban fantasy by TC Marti, and the second book to the Terrian Chronicles. In this sequel, the story picks up right where Tarja Titan left off. For a seventeen-year-old, Liza deals with more than anyone her age could handle. Her wind-wielding cousin had broken out of prison, killed her parents, and kidnapped her sister. Almost killing Liza as well, she was given 22 days to rescue Stef or else, they both die. Liza plays the deadliest game of Catch 22 in human history as one enemy wants her dead and the other wants her to rot in prison. With the help of her friends, she aims to find her sister before it's too late.

Review

I love that Liza resembles many young people who have insecurities. She feels that she's not enough when in fact, at her age, she's doing too much than a normal teen should be dealing with. This is what makes the story so relatable despite the magical elements. She’s extraordinary and yet, she’s also just like any ordinary teen who has coming-of-age issues. And the fact that Liza is the only Elemental on Terra capable of eventually controlling more than one element makes her story even more compelling. Overall, I'm giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. I've had an exciting rollercoaster ride with its fascinating characters and intriguing plot. I highly recommend this book to readers who are into elemental magic and small-town fantasy.
