Book Review: Maccabee Lady: Exodus

Maccabee Lady: Exodus is the third volume of the Maccabee Lady saga, a superhero comic series written and illustrated by sequential artist Josh Goldstein. In this book, the creator introduced some new heroes and villains and explained the viewpoint of the comic.

Review

I think in the world of art, comics has come a long way and I’ve seen them from classic comic strips, to superhero golden age, to manga and anime. There’s really a diverse style when it comes to art, considering the different mediums that artists can choose from.

This particular comic, however, is one that is so unique; I couldn’t seem to classify as to what kind of sequential art it is because the drawings have a very grungy style. I honestly couldn’t appreciate it as much as a real art enthusiast might appreciate this kind of work, so I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars. I think the creator has an idiosyncratic talent that is yet to be discovered. I recommend this book to readers ages 16 and above, not 12 years old as it says on the book’s description.
