Book Review: Revolution

Summary

Revolution is a historical and political thriller written by Al Romero with Dave Kelley. The story revolves around the Quintana family, whose lives are turned upside down during Fidel Castro’s sovereignty. Based on historical facts and Al Romero’s family experiences with the plight of other Cubans, the book illustrates how Fidel lied, cheated, and murdered his way into power, turning Cuba into a Soviet puppet.

Review

There are many unforgettable parts in this book that got stuck in my head as if I watched them on the big screen: the part where the children were asked to pray to God for ice cream, the part where Joaquin told his niece Elena what an idiot she was because I wanted so much to tell that to Elena too, and every single betrayal in this story which were downright devastating. I have nothing, but utter disgust over Fidel Castro and the men and women who were blinded by their loyalty to Fidel. Nevertheless, I was enlightened and entertained by this literary piece, and was satisfied with how the story ended.

Overall, I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was a great story! I was impressed by such good flow of narrative, fascinating characters, and entertaining dialogues. The entire book was a mix of heavy drama, romance, humor, thriller, fiction, and nonfiction. I highly recommend this book to readers who want to feed their mind and soul.
