Book Review: Riding in the Backseat With My Brother

Summary

Riding in the Backseat With My Brother is a memoir by Judi Blaze. This is a true story of a family that never settled in one place; an unconventional family whose father had wanderlust, and whose mother was more of a friend and playmate with tantrums and wild mood swings. Along with three siblings whose brother was given away to have a normal life, it was in their blood to travel.

Review

This book reminded me of a time with my papa when we travelled a lot. It was his business to take people to places, to explore and provide people with the knowledge that you only get from touring experiences. This book was way, way more than that. It showed an entire family connected together by their desire to travel. They traveled in belief that growing up on the road keeps your mind sharp; that you learn to go with the flow, whatever that make take you.

I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is a book that exhibits the difference between showing a story, rather than simply telling it! It’s such a well-written piece about Irish travelers whose lineage had not skipped a generation of wanderers. I highly recommend this to ALL readers. Regardless of your preferred genre, this book is a MUST-READ!
