Book Review: RISE: Runes & Ritual

Summary

Rise: Runes & Ritual is an occult book by Troy Wisehart. Written from the perspective of what the author regards as the Odian Left Hand Path, the book's purpose is to provide readers with a method to discover and develop the hidden and latent qualities and capabilities within themselves in order to enable themselves to rise to their fullest potential. Divided into three parts: mythical context, runes of the Elder Futhark, and ritual, this book is the result of many years of personal learning, meditation, contemplation, and actual practice by the author.

Review

The best thing anyone can get from reading is to acquire new knowledge and learn how another person views things. It’s exhilarating to open oneself to another world that is only known to the passionate and believers. This book is also everything a fantasy author would want to have as a source of mythical context, runes, and ritual. I think that people who share the same interest as the author would either agree with or oppose the contents in this book, and the fact that it might spark a debate between readers is intriguing itself. For me, a book that will be talked about whether in a positive or negative light is definitely a good book. It provides intellectual stimulation that isn’t always something that a book can do.

Another thing I want to point out is, this is one of the only two books I read in my entire life that provide detailed explanation of the book cover. I love that from cover to content, this book is rich in symbolism. Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars for all the reasons mentioned above. Even without pristine editing, this book deserves a perfect rating because it was too indicative of the author's great passion for the topic. And to sum up my thoughts in three words, I would say this book is esoteric, mindboggling, and intriguing! Highly recommended to readers who are into occult books.
