Book Review: Seven Ghosts

Summary

Seven Ghosts is an action thriller by Paul Shadinger, and the final book in the Matt Preston novel series. The story begins when a small article in the newspaper shocks Matt Preston as he recognizes the victim of a hit and run. Nestor Charles Bricklin III was merely crossing the street at 3:30 in the morning. The last sentence in the news article described him as a decorated veteran who had served three tours in Vietnam, and that was the whole story. Except, Matt knows that isn't the whole story. True enough, five ghosts died in the last couple of months and only he and Walter are left alive. Instead of enjoying his retirement, playing poker with his buddies, he couldn't shake off the fact that he and Walter would be next. He investigates each death, only to run into powerful people who are desperate to keep a long-ago mission buried.

Review

I haven't read any of the other books in the series but I'm glad I discovered this final book because it was entertaining from beginning to end! This action thriller novel was full of intrigue that it kept me on the edge of my seat! I was rooting for Matt and Walter's safety but the events that followed their investigation on their co-ghost members' deaths had turned this story from a fun poker game to a life-and-death action and mystery thriller. I like that the story didn't take long to escalate into something thrilling; it launched straight into action! Overall, I'm giving it 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to readers who are into action and whodunnit mystery thrillers.
