Summary
Severed Threads is a romantic suspense novel by Kaylin McFarren. The story begins when Rachel’s father dies underwater with Chase as the only witness. Sam was a healthy fifty-five-year-old man who had over twenty years of diving under his belt, and knew the ocean better than anyone did. With no threatening divers or reported sharks in the area, Chase couldn’t imagine what had caused Sam’s heart to stop. He bears the guilt of not being able to save him while Rachel believes herself responsible for her father’s fatal diving accident and has withdrawn herself from the world. As the guilt-ridden lovers share the burden of Sam’s death, they part ways, until a hidden treasure under the sea reunites them, to save the ones they value most.

I love the underwater action and how this story ended! There’s a lot going on in this story and a lot to anticipate, making this novel full of mystery and thrill! I got hooked for wanting to know what really happened to Rachel’s father, for wanting to discover the mystery behind the heart of the dragon, for rooting for Rachel and Chase to get back together, and for wanting to know if there’s more to the story than meets the eye.
Though there were many unforgettable moments in the story, I think the one that stuck the most was the part when Rachel finally understood her father’s fascination in treasure hunting. Often times, nobody ever understands someone until you live their life, and you’ll never know whether you like something or not until you try it.
Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was compelling, action-packed, and full of mystery and adventure! I highly recommend this book to readers who love treasure hunt themes and romance. Warning: This book has sensual contents.
