Summary
Sunshine Blues is an action suspense thriller by Bob Calverley. It’s about Gloria Doran aka Sunshine, a young music artist who had been constantly abused by her stepfather Matt Doran, so she ran away from home. Matt had sold Gloria to Juntasa, a man who cuts off fingers for discipline and procures young white women for rich Oriental men. Jimmy Hayes, a specialist fourth class solder protects Gloria no matter what it takes, even if he needs to kill people. Now, with Jimmy in Vietnam to fulfill his duties, Gloria is left alone in Detroit with no protector, and Juntasa had come to collect her.
Review
My heart raced every time Gloria (who’s pregnant!) and Jimmy were in danger! And what’s more gripping about this book is the fact that they’re apart, both fighting to save their own lives to make sure they can still see each other alive! I love the flow of the story; the narrative and dialogues were absorbing, and the characters gave a strong impression.
I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. This was truly scary, yet very entertaining! The antagonists were sinister, and the main characters were so determined to fight for their lives! I’ve had a heart racing ride with this amazing piece of fiction, so I highly recommend it to all mature readers who love action suspense thrillers. Warning: This book contains violence, profanity, substance abuse, and other very sensitive topics.
