Review
Tess: Clash of Civilizations is an action romance and drama written by Andres Mann. It is one of the books in the Tess series. So far, this is my favorite book of the series because it’s about Aara, Tess and Jake’s adopted daughter. No matter how deep and complicated her story is, her character gives a balance to the book series which normally tackles intense political, social, and economic issues.
These are the things I like about this book: (1) Jake’s eidetic memory. He remembers facts, figures, and just about everything. It’s amusing how Tess refers to him as a walking database or a news bureau, (2) There’s more focus on Aara, and the Valkyries as well, (3) There are two additional interesting characters named Eva and Giuliana, (4) I love Claudine’s shocking revelation to Jake, (5) The reason that Giuliana joined SRD was something that I didn’t see coming, (6) Aara’s decision in handling the marriage and inheritance was brilliant, (7) SRD Team’s final encounter with Laurent Belcour was very satisfactory, and (8) Tess’s heartwarming acceptance in the last chapter almost made me cry.
The only thing I dislike about this book is its poor editing. However, I’m still giving it 5 out of 5 stars because it didn’t impact the overall reading experience. It is rich in views on contemporary events and Islamic culture, and deals with family, military, music, and romance, all in just one book. Hence, I recommend it to ALL mature readers who enjoy stories with dominant and kickass women. Warning: This book has violent war scenes and some sensual content.
