Summary
Tess and Jake attended a formal event in Cambodia to celebrate the acquisition and commissioning of a new aircraft. While spending their time to explore the city, they witnessed a girl who struggled to free herself from her captor. Tess’s heroic nature and fighting skills were enough to save the girl, whom they later identified as Suchin. After learning the horrible life of sexual slavery that she had suffered from, Tess convinced Jake to set up a rescue organization that will be managed by women who have been freed from a life of prostitution.
Review
Tess: The Abomination of Human Trafficking is an action, drama, and romance novel written by Andres Mann. The book tackles the most appalling violation of human rights. The story is told through a series of exploration and undercover assignments led by Tess Turner, Vice President of the SRD military services, and her husband, Jake Vickers, an ex-CIA agent and President of SRD.
In reading this book, it felt like I came across a documentary novel because of how the narratives and dialogues were written. It contains a comprehensive array of research, interviews, victim rescues, and prosecutions of some of the most notorious traffickers. The stories of the victims were so appalling that I planned to watch a comedy sitcom to erase the revolting stories of sex slavery from my mind. When I finished the book, I’m glad I didn’t have to watch because the last two chapters of the book wiped the negative emotions away. I was very satisfied at how the story ended.
Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author successfully incorporated real contemporary events to a fiction that will serve as an eye-opener. I highly recommend this book to ALL mature readers. Warning: This book has in-depth description and tales of human trafficking with very sensitive contents.
