Summary
The Quiet Kid is a memoir by Michael Scarlett. In this book, he relives his life from as early as six to his teenage experiences; how it was like growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee during the 70s. It’s a true to life story about wanting to fit in, being under the influence of drugs, always looking for love, seeking greener pastures, and seeking a higher truth.
Review
This was such a nostalgic read for me as I was reminded of my own youthful experiences. Anyone can relate to Michael’s story about wanting to fit in, wanting to be noticed and be liked by people. I guess this is a feeling that most of us would never forget because those awkward moments would always come back to our memories either to make us laugh, smile, or be sad.
This book made me realize that as a teenager, you’re lucky if you don't come across bad influences. There will always be instances when we do stupid things simply out of curiosity. But always when we call upon the Almighty, we are led back to the right path.
I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. This was a good coming-of-age real life story that made me reminisce the right and wrong decisions I have made as a teenager. Some memories just make you laugh or smile, or make your heart flutter, then there are those times that will make you sad and regret about the things you did or didn’t do.
