Book Review: The Silent Message

Summary

A patient in Singapore General Hospital had symptoms like high fever, chest pains, and cough. He was infected with a virus similar to COVID-19, except worse, and the mortality rate was much higher. This new virus was unknown to the public, kept secret by the authorities to prevent panic and riots. When the patient died, except for the name Walther Khan and the fact that he looked Eurasian and around 50 years of age, it was impossible to establish his origin or identity. The only thing left was his mobile phone, but he seemed to have activated a self-destruct mode on his handset, so the minute it was turned on, it died, and the contents of the phone were gone forever. What secret did he want to hide from the authorities and the rest of the world?

Review

The Silent Message is an action thriller by Robert de Casares. I couldn’t put this book down! It was very intriguing and very timely because of the pandemic. Who wouldn’t be curious with a new virus and why it’s happening? This book is fiction, but I swear, I was instantly pulled into the story and at some point, I was asking myself, what if this is really the reason why awful things are happening? What if there’s a group of peculiar minds who are plotting the world’s apocalypse for an ultimate goal?

I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. I don’t know if it makes sense, but the storyline is so unbelievable that it felt so believable. Reading this book felt more like watching a movie! I highly recommend it to readers who want to experience an action thriller with a mind-boggling plot.
