Book Review: The Syrian Jewelry Box

Summary

The Syrian Jewelry Box is a memoir by Carina Sue Burns. As an American, she grew up in the Middle East with her loving mother, her younger brother, and a father she considered her hero. At the age of 15 years old, she learned a shocking truth when she peeked inside her mother’s jewelry box. And in her journey from Middle East to Europe, she triumphed over her identity crisis and learned the power of love.

Review

This book was heartwarming, engaging, and inspiring. It was such a splendid memoir that took me to many places I’ve never been to. I have learned about culture, beliefs, couture, and cuisine in the Middle East and Europe, and also felt the emotional surge from her shocking discovery.

I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. Reading this book made me feel like I was part of an extraordinary journey; Carina has lived a fascinating life, and shared her experiences through a remarkable writing. I highly recommend this book to readers who love reading memoirs.
