Book Review: Tumble: The Andaman Event

Summary

Tumble: The Andaman Event is a suspense thriller and science fiction novel by Bob Triggs. The story opens with a 47-year-old computer software engineer from London, who flew to Thailand after 15 years to attend the memorial service for the tsunami victims. His wife and two daughters were three of the hundreds of thousands of people who died in 2004. On the same day in 2019, an earthquake occurs that is still connected to the 2004 disaster. The earthquake originating in the Bay of Bengal 249 kilometers west of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is causing a worldwide disaster that is deadlier than an actual earthquake. In 2020, scientists discover the terrifying possibility of human extinction.

Review

There are many things I love about this book: (1) The heartwarming incident that happened to Peter when he went back to Thailand, (2) The stimulating conversations between Robert and Seth because of their differences in theories and principle beliefs, particularly their theories on schizophrenia, homosexuality, and even the cause of dinosaur extinction, (3) There were chapters that focused on normal citizens to show the worldwide impact of natural disasters, (4) Each chapter has ‘geographic coordinates’ that readers can click to see the specified location, and (5) The narratives and dialogues were eloquently written in details that instantly engrossed me to keep reading until my eyes hurt.

I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars. This story is a definite must-read, and I recommend it to ALL readers regardless of your preferred genre. This book is a grandiose expression of the mind-bending possibilities in geological evolution. The vast knowledge on the different branches of science and other topics involved in the story are indicative of the author’s high caliber and passion in writing. It is highly informative and artistic, and it’s only the first book to the Tumble series, so I am very curious and excited to read the next book.
