Summary
Twisted Threads is a crime mystery thriller by Kaylin McFarren. The story revolves around Akira Hamada. Like most girls in Japan, her dream of being famous began at a young age. She studied harder and longer than all the maikos in her family home, excelling in music, dance, social graces, and international languages. But after being forced by Mitsui-san to become an assassin, she never considered what freedom would mean. When she was given an opportunity to put a halt to the kind of life she never dreamed of, she takes one last job in a cruise ship where her last target is.
Review
A luxurious setting with mysterious murders happening in a cruise ship is the best way to entice lovers of mysteries like me, which is why I couldn’t put this book down. And other than this book being a whodunnit thriller, it’s also a fusion of many genres like romance, action, and adventure, so there is no dull moment. I also love the characters, especially Devon.
I can’t exactly pinpoint how I want to describe Devon. He’s not Korean, but his character gives me the kind of feel that I can only get by watching K-Dramas. And I know it seems weird, but that’s really the kind of vibes he gives, especially that part when he had to charge his glittering gold thingy to Bradshaw’s room because he was embarrassed to let his Uncle Paul know about his personal affairs. It’s funny because he’s an adult and shouldn’t be acting like a teenager, but acting like that makes him such an adorably charming character.
Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. There are many positive adjectives I can use to describe this book, but if I were to limit myself, I’d say this book was thrilling, amusing, and charming. I highly recommend it to crime mystery readers. Warning: This book contains violence, sex, and explicit language.
