Summary
Unapologetically is a Christian short fiction by Sydney Wells. The story is told through the eyes of a woman who goes by the name, Victorious. She lost her mother at the age of nine to a drug overdose and was sent to live with her paternal grandparents. When her mother was alive, she spent more time with her boyfriend, so Victorious lacked the attention that a young girl needs. When she grew up, she knew nothing about love and faith in God. She married Jessie, only to discover that he had succumbed to the influence of drugs, just like her mother.
Review
This was a good read to past the time and I finished this in just one sitting. I can relate to the part when the main character felt that it seemed like the closer that she got to God, the more her situation was getting worse. There was also a time in my life way back when I stopped praying the rosary because it felt like the more that I prayed, the more I encountered trials. But of course, that was just the ridiculous side of me which is long gone now. My faith was just weak back then because I was blinded by doubts. This story shows that understanding the work of the Almighty, and putting one’s faith in Him works miracles.
Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. I definitely did not see that safari twist coming in the end. I recommend this book to readers who love Christian fiction. It’s a very relatable story about being trapped in a situation where you don’t know what else to do except put your trust and faith in Him.
